Originally built in the late 18th century, Thanington Hotel has retained many of its original architectural features while offering thoughtfully designed guest rooms equipped with modern comforts. Every room has been created to provide a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring Canterbury. Our accommodation combines traditional character with contemporary amenities, ensuring guests enjoy comfort, tranquillity, and exceptional value throughout their stay. We look after an old building, which means we spend a lot of time on things guests never see — the boiler, the roof, the pool plant, the garden. What you should notice is the opposite: that the room is warm, the bed is made properly, and nobody had to chase us for anything. Most of what we know about Canterbury comes from being asked. Which walk is worth the weather, where to eat on a Sunday night, how long you really need at the Cathedral. Ask at breakfast — we would rather you spent your day well than politely worked it out yourself.
